Why you should say YES to Solid State Drives

Solid State Drives work for you.

Solid State Drives are computer hard drives that have no moving parts. Therefore, they make the computer run faster, generate less heat and last longer.

How one can help your business.

Solid State Drives (SSD) are faster than magnetic drives. SSDs have no moving parts.Jim runs a small business in Rancho Cordova, California. He uses his computer more than 30 hours a week. One day, he realizes that his computer is not running as fast as it used to run. He asks his network manager for advice. The network manager checks the logs and verifies all drivers are current. The network manager then tells Dave he should swap out the original, magnetic drive with a Solid State Model. The Solid State Drive offers these benefits:

  1. Faster performance. With all other factors being equal, a Solid State Drive makes the computer run faster. At another site, the network manager has two identical computers, except for the hard drive. When he boots both simultaneously, the computer with a Solid State Drive takes 1/3 the time to boot than the other.
  2. Less heat. Since Jim is running a notebook computer, heat is an issue. His network manager tells him that with no moving parts, Solid State Drives generate much less heat than the magnetic drives. Also, the computer’s native heat will not cause the Solid State Drive’s bearings to fail. It does not have any.
  3. Longer lifespan. Jim’s network manager tells him that with no moving parts and less heat, the Solid State Drives last longer. This extends a notebook computer’s lifespan. That is what he has seen at other sites.

The end result.

Jim OK’s the swap. Granted a 500 GB Solid State Drive these days costs approximately $150, Jim feels the increased performance and longevity justify the investment. With the new Solid State Drive, Jim observes much faster computer performance. He gets more done in less time. He feels the ROI is clear. Everybody is happy.
