SEO takes time, says WordPress website pro
That is…Good SEO takes time. People ask how they can use SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to get their website, products and services on page 1 of Google within a day. I tell them SEO is the best tool for website marketing and generates long-term results. However, it does not satisfy our need for instant gratification. Here’s a real-world example showing why sometimes, good things take time.
A man starts a new job on Monday morning. He shows up early and the boss notices. He answers the phone on the first ring and the boss notices. He is nice to everybody and the boss notices. This happens week after week, month after month.
One day, the boss receives a letter from a happy client, praising the new employee. The boss is overjoyed. The boss gives this employee a promotion. His coworkers say “oh, the boss received a letter praising the new guy and that’s why he got the promotion.” That is not the reason. The new employee received the promotion because he shows up early, answers the phone on the first ring and treats everybody nice, every day. That’s why he received the promotion.
Maybe the letter was the trigger encouraging the boss to finally reward the employee. Maybe the boss was planning to give him the promotion anyway and the letter had no effect. Regardless, the employee worked hard and eventually received the promotion.
SEO works the same way
If this capture from April 27, 2012 is tough to read, press (CTRL +) or click it for the original. This placement did not happen overnight. It happened because I repeatedly publish content regarding Sacramento IT solutions and I use “Sacramento IT solutions” as a keyword in my article submissions. Only after a few months did I see one of my web pages appear on page 1. Only this week did I see one of mine at the top of page 1.
Some people say SEO doesn’t work fast enough. That depends on your definition of “fast enough.” People expect instant gratification on their SEO campaigns. If you expect instant gratification, you will receive instant disappointment. I tell clients they can expect results within 60-90 days from the day they create their first blog post. I also tell them to post something every day on their blog and respond to others’ blogs.
