Before you launch your SEO campaign, write a summary
Your online profiles give you space for a headline or summary. Yours has to be short and sharp. People will see this after they see your name. Remember, they are still learning about you. Wherever you post a picture, you will also need a 15 word response to the question: “Why should I do business with you”?
I met this question in a rather harsh manner. I gave a speech near San Francisco. Afterwards a man walked up and said: ”In 15 words or less, why should I do business with you”? I said “What”? He repeated the question: “In 15 words or less, why should I do business with you?” I did not have a good answer. I had a long drive home. By the time I got home, I had some good responses for the next time. You need an answer to this question. Make sure it is short and sharp. Also make sure you love it. You’ll be using it over and over and over. When all else fails, go with: “I was hesitant at first, but I tried it and now I love it.”
Some online profiles will measure this in characters, not words. One of mine is at http://facebook.com/cameronparkcomputer. They all have something in common. They do not allow enough room.
You may get tired of all the times you copy and paste your 15 word response into online profiles. I know I sure have. You never know where your ideal customers will find you. Some services call this the headline, some call it a summary, some call it a tagline. I call it the 15 word response. Whatever you choose to call yours, just make sure you love it. You’ll be using it over and over and over.
